Windows Phone 8.1 users who were getting excited about joining desktop users in making use of buy microsoft office 2010 latest operating-system might be waiting longer than expected. The update which was supposed to roll out this month continues to be officially pushed to 2016.

The delay, announced inside a Windows article, actually pertains to all Windows 10 updates. But Microsoft previously said eligible phones would receive an over-the-air update to Windows 10 in December, bring more Microsoft devices in line with its latest Lumia lineup.

The announcement is made inside a post introducing the most recent Cumulative Update for office professional 2013 download Mobile Insider Preview, which is available today for fast- and slow-ring insiders.

The post explains the "engineering team is going to be running in a slower pace and many in our key individuals who drive our flighting process is going to be out ?- What this means is we will not be releasing any new builds to Windows Insiders until January, for PC and mobile."

So Insiders could see new software next month, but Windows Phone 8.1 users away from preview program may have to wait longer. According to a Microsoft statement presented to GeekWire, "the office 2013 standard Mobile upgrade will start rolling out early the coming year to pick existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones."

It's unclear which phones will get the update. Feature like Continuum will likely take more power than some Windows Phone 8.1 devices are able to produce, so some phones might be omitted.
